Oneself

Without
Being induced — one way or another —
Into a protracted purging
Stripping
Out of oneself

The cherished, the sacred
Corpses, of saviours
Dust motes of symbols
Sirens of authority
Images
Of power

Stoked with
Nausea, disgust
Hatred
Smoldering, corroding
Rage

To demolish, burn, kill
Evict — the colonisers
The occupants, dwelling
Within

How could anyone
Ever
Even imagine
Inhabiting, coming
Into oneself
